RCI and Registry Collection on globetrotting promotional mission

The two companies have partnered with Bench Events, organizers of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC), to co-host the second edition of the Shared Ownership Master Class 2011.

The Shared Ownership Master Class 2011 is part of the three-day AHIC conference programme which takes place between 30 April and 2 May at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE, with the half-day Master Class taking place on Saturday, 30 April.

The shared-ownership business models to be showcased and discussed at the Master Class will feature leisure-oriented real estate and hospitality products that include timeshare, fractional, private residence clubs and destination clubs. The business model is well established in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets, such as Egypt and Dubai, showing tremendous growth potential as favourable market conditions attract quality hospitality assets.

“This is the event for hospitality companies and mixed-use developers to get a really close look at how leading hospitality brands have benefited from their entry into the shared-ownership market sector,” said Shafi Syed, regional director, The Registry Collection programme, MENA. “The Master Class format offers a fantastic opportunity to meet and talk to an impressive and knowledgeable line-up of experienced leaders from branded vacation-ownership companies.”

“We are delighted to bring back such an exciting event to the region with AHIC,” said Dimitris Manikis, vice president, business development for RCI, EMEA. “We wanted to create a forum where delegates could talk to leading brands like Anantara Vacation Club, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Jones Lang La Salle Hotels, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Valhalla Associates and more – under one roof in a focused interactive session. If capturing long-term customer loyalty and creating new revenue streams in a changed marketplace is a key objective for real estate developers and hospitality firms, then this is a ‘must-attend’ event for them.”

RCI will also be a Platinum Sponsor of RDO2, the annual conference of the Resort Development Organisation (September 26 to 28 2011), and the 2011 Vacation Ownership Association of Southern Africa (VOASA) Conference (May 29 to 31).

“There is strength in numbers and those working as a team, generally speaking, tend to get to their goals far faster and with more fun along the way than those working alone. RCI believes in the power of teamwork and the strength of community. It is for this reason that we do our best to support as many of our established industry trade bodies and associates across our regions as possible,” said Manikis. ““Our industry trade bodies and associates are working for everyone in the shared-ownership industry and we all benefit from their wins. If we want them to continue to fight for us, be our voice and to help make our marketplace a better place to be, then it is important that we support them in every way we can.”

Finally, preparations are under way for the first European Fractional Ownership Awareness Day of 2011, organised by The Registry Collection.

The event, which is part of a series of roadshows across Europe, takes place at the Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella, Spain on 24 May, and will be hosted by Nick Turner, vice president Europe, The Registry Collection and Fractional Ownership Developments.

The day-long workshop will include an overview of fractional ownership, presentations on business planning, ownership structures, alternative investment schemes, sales techniques and routes to market. There will also be an opportunity for delegates to network in the afternoon.

“We have invested heavily in big global events over the last few years but it’s apparent there is a gap where small to medium-sized resort developers are keen to learn more about the fractional ownership model but have not been able to travel to London or the US,” said Turner.

The Awareness Days, for which Fractioal Life is a media partner, kicked off in Ireland last December and will also take place in Cyprus, Italy and Portugal later this year. They will provide a simple and concise summary of the fractional model. They will also give delegates the chance to meet experienced developers to learn more about key topics such as fractional market intelligence, legal issues and sales and marketing.

“This is a low-cost educational day giving people with an interest in fractionals the opportunity to talk with those that are established in the market and who are willing to share their experiences and present case studies,” added Turner. “We have been encouraged in this by the success enjoyed across the Caribbean with similar style events hosted by The Registry Collection.”

The Marbella roadshow will be followed by events in Cyprus, Italy and Portugal, with the following dates and venues:
• 1 June at the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills in Paphos, Cyprus.
• 28 June at the Star Hotel Michelangelo in Florence, Italy.
• 13 September at the Quinta da Marinha Resort near Lisbon, Portugal.
The day delegate cost for the full-day workshops listed above is €59 plus local taxes. To reserve a place or for further information, contact Amanda White by email: amanda.white@rci.com.
